Catrina’s abstract paintings are a response to the impermanent nature of the west coast.
These paintings embody a playful approach to mark-making, where the canvas is treated more like a page from her visual diary. Catrina's work is very process driven and her latest studies dive into the play of light and gesture seen in her coastal environment.
Its the overlapping impermanent nature of the coastline and of the nature of the fluid paint itself that inspires her.
