Nicky Foreman

My current work has a duality-the meshing together of past work drawn from the landscape and personal family history of the North Taranaki region and more recent bonds with France

We Love…

Nicky produces lush and evocative works which both instantly feel like a quintessential representation of New Zealand, while simultaneously transporting you to somewhere distant. The exquisite details of her work allow you to loose yourself in them, studying the composition and nuances. They are always items to delight your senses. ARTFORM.

Feature

Nicky Foreman was born in Waitara, Taranaki a landscape which has continued to be an important subject throughout her practice. Having completed a BFA from Elam, Auckland University in 1992, Nicky Foreman’s work explores subjects of mundane objects, landscapes, fabrics and foliage along with images and symbols drawn from art and culture. These subjects are juxtaposed together and presented for the viewer to consider the very identity and fabric of culture and human history/experience.
Past and present, specifically in the Aotearoa setting is referenced with nods to Europe through her incorporation of medieval and Renaissance imagery and motifs developed during her travels and residencies through Europe, especially France.
