We Love

Graeme has this fascination with the human form and manages to create different aspects of inquisitive nature, perplexity, contemplation and humour in the different facial expressions and poses. We love the unpredictability of his colours - he never writes down the colours in each piece, meaning that although some of the shapes are repeated, the colours never are… ARTFORM.

Once again a piece of my work that was prompted by a series of experiences stemming from my 3 month stay in the Muslim quarter in old Jerusalem. While there I learnt that the genealogy of the Jewish people is passed down through the mothers. Having definitely felt a connection to the place,I was curious, so on returning home I had my DNA tested to see where my roots are. (The test came back not Jewish) it must have been playing on my mind as one night I had a very vivid dream. (in my dream) woke to find a room full of women, with my mother. I asked “who are all these ladies?” my mother replied “we are all your mothers past.” WOW. I then got to trying to interrupt it into a sculpture. The vessel on the head represents the ‘providing’ of the family needs, wood, water, food etc. The cloak, the warmth and love. On some there is a snail representing the home. The eye closed in peace meditation and gratitude.
